Metcalf Group (SA) renovates Spruance Hall in Elizabeth East

The northern suburbs have long been a backbone of the Adelaide economy. With a history of industry, hard honest work and family values, the region has many stories to tell. Many community groups operate in the area including sporting groups, charities, and interest groups. Often these kinds of groups need somewhere to meet and operate, whether its regularly on a weekly basis or as a once of yearly fundraiser point. One of the iconic locations that this occurs in is the Spruance Hall on Spruance Road in Elizabeth East. After the Council went to market to tender for the right Company to refurbish and renovate this Hall, Metcalf Group (SA) became the obvious choice. With a focus on community and functionality, two of Metcalf Group (SA)’s best Project Managers were assigned to the job.

Spruance Hall has been around for decades. It is a large hall providing everything local groups need from space, toilet facilities, a stage and ample parking. Overlooking a large oval area that many members in the community use regularly, the Hall is a social focal point for residents of the region and a place of social gathering for all sorts of events and groups.

Like all buildings though, time and the elements take their toll. The local Playford Council sought to bring the Hall back to a state of quality, strong construction and visual appeal. With an emphasis on modern styling coupled with simplistic user-friendly functionality, the plans were drawn up for Metcalf Group (SA) to take the lead.

Bringing in the Company’s best trades, the refurbishment saw a massive rip out of old fittings first. With safety in mind and proper disposal, a blank canvass was laid bare ready to be enhanced and fitted towards the desired end outcome. Both the exterior and interior have since been refurbished and it certainly shows. Fresh paint now covers the walls in and out. An upgrade of electrical wiring and outputs as well as a full bathroom upgrade has meant modern facilities serve the community now.

Incorporating a new stage, a new bar area for entertaining and the installation of large glass doors that welcome entrants into the Hall, the job’s high level of quality is self-evident to those that attend. Now completed, groups and local residents are excited about seeing the new Hall. Refurbished to a high standard, one of the Company’s Project Manager’s Mr. Owen Belton reviewed the result: “…it has been a pleasure to work on this project and see this outcome which gives something positive back to the community.”

It will be exciting to see the smiles and reactions of the locals as they return to using this Hall. We have already had local residents come up to us as they watched the exterior look better and better and provide us with great feedback on the end result.”
